ECX Prime Brushless Mini Motor

Sample image only. Product may differ
The maxon ECX PRIME series is a 4-pole, ironless brushless DC motor platform designed for compact, high-dynamic applications. Compared to previous 2-pole designs, the series delivers up to 60% higher continuous torque in the same footprint, with improved speed stability and power density. Available in 16 mm and 22 mm diameters, the platform includes standard and sterilizable (STEC) variants with ceramic hybrid bearings rated for ~1,000 autoclave cycles.
The modular system supports:
- Integrated Hall sensors for commutation
- Optional encoders (incremental and absolute)
- Compatible GPX and GSW gearheads
- Configure-To-Order (CTO) mechanical and electrical customization

How to select an ECX PRIME motor
Selection is driven by a combination of mechanical size and electrical configuration:
- Required torque → determines diameter and length
- Required speed → determines winding (speed constant)
- Available supply voltage → narrows electrical variants
- Operating environment → standard vs sterilizable
System Integration
These motors are typically combined with other motion components to form a complete subsystem:
- Planetary gearheads for torque multiplication
- Encoders for positioning and speed feedback
- Compact servo drives for closed-loop control
This allows the ECX PRIME platform to be used as the core of a compact actuator or servo-driven assembly.
