Mecademic was founded in 2013 by Jonathan Coulombe (CEO) and Professor Ilian Bonev of Montreal's École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS). They provide ultra-compact, precise, and easy to integrate robot arms that will revolutionize the robotics field. Their first product was a dual-arm SCARA robot (DexTAR) for the academic market. After the commercial release of DexTAR, the Meca500 was introduced to the public in May 2015, and has been commercially available since July 2016. Hundreds of Meca500 robots are already in operation across North America, Europe and Asia.
An industrial robot should be a component, like a conveyor or a smart camera; not a bulky, stand-alone, and complex system that requires several days of training. Mecademic designs, develops and manufactures the smallest and most accurate six-axis industrial robots on the market. These robots are typically used for testing, inspection, material handling, assembly, and dispensing; primarily in the electronics and medical devices industries.
Mecademic's guiding principles are to:
innovate and create unique products for flexible automation
offer only the highest quality robotics components
disseminate robotics knowledge
listen and learn from our customers
develop strategic long-term partnerships
Electromate is proud to have worked with Mecademic for a number of years to help provide the key components for their robotic arms, including the gearbox and motors used in the Meca500. Learn more about Mecademic robot arms & robotic arm components.
