Electromate's Outdoor and Rugged HMI lineup features Exor's eXtreme series - purpose-built operator interfaces for harsh, hazardous, and outdoor environments where standard panel HMIs cannot be used. Every unit in this lineup is engineered around three core requirements: visibility in direct sunlight, resistance to the environmental conditions that would compromise a standard HMI, and the certifications required to operate safely in regulated industries.
Optical bonding eliminates the air gap between the touchscreen glass and the display panel, dramatically improving sunlight readability while also preventing condensation, ingress, and impact damage. Combined with IP66 or higher protection ratings and extended temperature ranges, these units are built to remain operational where the environment puts both equipment and operators at risk.
All models run JMobile software and support OPC UA client/server, making them fully compatible with your existing Exor automation architecture regardless of how demanding the installation environment is.
Why Choose an Outdoor or Rugged HMI
Standard panel HMIs are designed for controlled indoor environments - protected enclosures, stable temperatures, and indirect lighting. When an application moves outside those conditions, a standard HMI becomes a liability. Displays wash out in sunlight, touchscreens fail when wet, enclosures allow ingress, and temperature swings push components outside their rated range.
Outdoor and rugged HMIs address each of these failure points by design. Optical bonding improves display brightness and contrast in sunlight without requiring higher power backlight. PCAP touchscreens with bonded glass continue to function when wet or when operators are wearing gloves. IP66 and higher ratings keep dust and water out of the enclosure. And certifications including ATEX Zone 2/22, IECEx Zone 2/22, cULus Hazardous Locations, and DNV for marine environments mean these units meet the regulatory requirements of the industries that need them most.
