One of the features of the Linear Shaft Motor is the ease in which it can be used in a parallel configuration with only one encoder and one drive. In this video, four Linear Shaft Motors are used in a high precision XY stage. Two motors are wired in parallel on each axis and are used in a ‘moving shaft’ design.
The Linear Shaft Motor is the first linear servo designed for the ultra high precision market. The design makes it 50 percent more energy efficient than competing linear motors. The Linear Shaft Motor is a good choice to replace traditional linear motion system like ball-screws and belt-drives.
Note: the noise heard is not originating from this stage.
