Power Transmission/Mechanical Products

Power Transmission is a catch-all phrase encompassing industrial electric motors, mechanical power transmission products and adjustable speed drives. Mechanical Power Transmission Products include all of the below components. Combined, these products are used to generate, transmit, control and transform mechanical energy in the general application of industrial automation.

Two AC motorsTwo AC motors

AC Motors

Rugged and built for demanding applications. Extremely quiet and reliable operation. A good choice for relatively low speed applications and those where consistent speed over a wide range of torque is important. AC induction motors have no common wear parts such as brushes and commutators, so they are highly reliable, with long life potential and low maintenance.

AC Planetary Gearmotors

Combine the speed and torque of an AC motor with the benefits of parallel shaft reducers, planetary reducers, and right angle reducers, creating a compact, high torque gearmotor. This makes them a good choice for applications where high torque, continuous duty, and space are important considerations.

Electromagnetic power on brakesElectromagnetic power on brakes

Electromagnetic Brakes

Power-On Brakes are used to stop or hold a load that is coupled to the armature hub assembly. The armature hub is attached to the load shaft. The field assembly is mounted to a bulkhead that is perpendicular to the shaft. Power-Off Brakes are designed to decelerate or hold an inertial load when the voltage is turned off. When voltage is applied, the friction disc is released and the brake is free of torque.

Electromagnetic Clutches

Power-on Clutches are used to couple two parallel shafts. The armature hub assembly is mounted to the same shaft as the rotor assembly. The armature hub accommodates a pulley, gear, sprocket, etc., to transmit torque to the second shaft.

Couplings

Available in multiple varieties, including bellows, elastomer, safety, etc. Bellows Couplings feature zero backlash and are the most torsionally stiff solution for dynamic applications while still compensating for shaft mis-alignments. Elastomer Couplings are a lower cost alternative to bellows couplings yet feature zero backlash and provide vibration / resonance dampening while still compensating for shaft mis-alignments. Safety Couplings are used to minimize expensive damage when a collision occurs in a high performance servo drive system.

Two DC motorsTwo DC motors

DC Motors

Electromechanical devices which use the interaction of magnetic fields and conductors to convert the electrical energy into rotary mechanical energy. DC motors are the most commonly used actuators for continuous motion. Commonly used to drive equipment such as conveyor belts, elevators, cranes, turntables, and hoists. Electromate supplies a range of DC motors from top manufacturer, Groschopp.

DC Gearmotors

High torque & brush DC gearmotors combine the high starting torque and reliably of a DC gearmotor with the benefits of parallel shaft reducers, planetary reducers, and right angle reducers, creating a quiet, compact, reliable gearmotor. This makes them a good fit for applications that require a high starting torque and heavy lifting.

PMDC motorPMDC motor

PMDC Drives

Designed to operate PMDC motors inexpensively, and feature two or four quadrant operation for simple velocity control with ramp functionality.
