Absolute & Incremental Linear Encoders

absolute & incremental linear encodersLinear encoders sense and digitize linear position change for position measurement and feedback to control systems.  Linear encoders are available in two types, absolute and incremental, as defined by their position signals.  Absolute linear encoders create a unique position signal that is available anywhere along travel.  The exact position will be read after power cycling.  Incremental linear encoders do not generate a unique signal.  The encoder is zeroed after power-down and relies on another switch or encoder for initial reference. Electromate supplies absolute & incremental linear encoders throughout Canada in regions like Ontario, British Columbia, and Quebec. The MicroE Systems’ Linear Encoders includes the below families.

Performance and Value Linear Encoders

Incremental encoders that set a new standard for performance and value.  Perfect for a wide range of motion control applications.  Linear or rotary.  Resolutions from 5µm to 50nm linear, up to 3.3M CPR rotary.  Cyclical error only ±40nm.  Measuring lengths up to 30m using tape scales.  Digital output.  LED in the sensor shows encoder status at all times. A ll electronics, including interpolation, in the sensor. Optical index and left / right optical limits.  Available software.

Tape Scale Linear Encoders

The Micro Tape Encoder (MTE) is optimized for linear applications with challenging space and cost constraints where rapid time to market and energy efficiency are critical. Using MicroE’s patented optical detector design, MTE delivers industry-leading sensor size, energy efficiency, and alignment tolerances. The compact sensor is easily installed in top or side mount configuration without any alignment tools or oscilloscopes. An LED in the sensor provides real time indication of system health. Interpolation is performed in the sensor.
