Linear Spline Shaft Guideways

Linear spline shaft guideways are essential in converting rotary to linear motion, crucial for automation and CNC machinery. Their grooved profiles ensure smooth transfer and effective force distribution, ideal for precise control in demanding applications.

Kerk® Splines & Linear Guides deliver low-cost, low friction and long life for a variety of linear motion control applications.

Kerk Spline Shafts

Kerk Spline Shafts are offered in stainless steel with a unique Kerkote® TFE coating, making them suitable for applications needing precise positioning at an affordable price. These shafts are ideal for light loads and come with the option of anti-backlash assemblies.

They prevent rotation for single-axis movements and can be used as a rotating drive for two-axis movements. This makes them a great replacement for more traditional hex or square shafts and more expensive ball splines.

Each shaft is paired with a Kerkite® composite polymer bushing, featuring a brass collar for easy mounting and preventing nut distortion.

The Kerk Spline Shaft series is crafted for light to moderate loads, emphasizing affordability, minimal friction, and durability.

The shafts are guaranteed to have a straightness of .003 inches per foot, with a typical clearance between the shaft and bushing ranging from .002 to .003 inches.

This ensures minimal play, especially with the anti-backlash option. Custom bushings and machining options are available, and if needed, aluminum or carbon steel shafts can be provided.

Kerk Linear Guideways

Kerk RGS Linear Guides offer a compact and cost-effective solution for linear motion needs, featuring a precision aluminum guide with a passive carriage and an integrated mounting base for full-length support. These guides are ideal for various applications, providing a sturdy and stable platform that can be mounted on any flat surface or span free gaps with an easily accessible carriage. The aluminum profile is enhanced with a Kerkote® TFE coating, ensuring smooth movement and torsional rigidity.

These linear guides are customizable up to 8 feet in length, with options for single or multiple carriages, in both standard and bespoke setups. The series includes a wider base option for enhanced stability. Made from high-strength extruded aluminum and Kerkite® composite polymer, with critical surfaces coated in Kerkote TFE, these guides are designed for durability and require no adjustments, lubrication, or ongoing maintenance. Their simplicity makes them user-friendly and an excellent value.

Compatible with other Haydon Kerk Motion Solutions products, the RGS Linear Guides can be adapted for specific needs, making them versatile for a broad range of uses. They are designed to work seamlessly with Kerk RGS series screw-driven linear slides, sharing the same rail and carriage design, which simplifies equipment design and minimizes part variety. These guides are suitable for use with Kerk leadscrews or other drive mechanisms, offering a flexible solution for linear motion projects.

Kerk Linear Rail Systems

For light load applications requiring minimal frictional drag, low cost and long wear, the Kerk GR Linear Rail System is the perfect choice. It features a burnished, centerless ground stainless steel shaft (available either uncoated or with Kerkote® TFE for additional lubricity) and a graphite and PTFE-filled thermoplastic bushing. The GR Series linear rail system has been designed for light load applications where low cost, minimum frictional drag and long wear life are primary design considerations. The assembly consists of a centerless ground and burnished stainless steel shaft mated with a Kerkite® composite polymer bushing. The material combinations have been selected so that thermal fluctuations have minimal effect on system performance. Additional lubricity and extended life can be obtained by using a low friction Kerkote® TFE coating on support shafts available in both stainless and alloy steel.

Standard shaft straightness is .002-in (0.05mm) per foot and typical radial clearance between shaft and bushing is .0005-in (.013mm) on non-coated assemblies and .001-in (.025mm) on Kerkote TFE coated assemblies. Bushings are manufactured with standard retaining ring grooves.
