VLR-100 Encoder

The VLR-100 Absolute Rotary Encoder is a high-resolution sensor, offering exceptional precision with an 18-20 bit resolution and an accuracy of ±0.006°. Its robust design ensures high reliability in extreme environments, making it suitable for diverse industrial applications. With a compact form factor, featuring a 105 mm outer diameter, 53 mm inner diameter, and a height of 12.5 mm, and weighing 178 grams, the VLR-100 is both durable and easy to install.

This encoder is highly tolerant to electromagnetic interference (EMI), radio frequency interference (RFI), and magnetic fields, ensuring stable operation under various conditions. It supports a maximum operational speed of 4,000 rpm and provides single turn, unlimited measurement range. The optional Build In Test (BIT) and adjustable CW/CCW rotation direction add to its versatility.

Constructed with an aluminum housing and a nominal air gap of 0.8 mm between the stator and rotor, the VLR-100 has a rotor inertia of 51,191 gr·mm². It operates on a 5V ±5% supply voltage with a current consumption of around 90 mA. Communication is facilitated through SSi and BiSS-C interfaces, binary output code, and differential RS-422 serial output. The standard 250mm cable ensures seamless interconnection, with an optional position update rate up to 375 kHz.

The VLR-100 meets EMC standards (IEC 6100-6-2, IEC 6100-6-4) and operates within a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, capable of enduring significant shock and vibration as per MIL-STD-810G standards.
